Aristea Mellos is an Australian composer of contemporary classical music.
A winner of the 2014 Gallipoli Song Competition, Aristea is a recipient of grants from the Presser Foundation (2015), the Earle Brown Foundation (2016), the Australia Council of the Arts (2014), the American Australian Association (2013, 2014) and the Eastman School of Music (Professional Development Award 2014). Aristea is a represented artist of The Australian Music Centre. Her music has been published by the Capliano Review, and Soundboard Magazine, and has been recorded and broadcast by ABC Classic FM, NPR, WAYO 104.3FM, and 2MBS FM.
As a composer who focuses on art songs and intimate chamber music, Mellos has worked closely with many notable soloists including Jane Sheldon, Michael Lampard, Corey Hamm, Elinor Frey, Daniel Pesca, Josinaldo Costa, Sophie Burgos, Madeline Cain, Zach Sheets, Phil Pierick and Emlyn Johnson. A fellow of Art Song Lab (VISI 2013), the AYO's Composer School (2010), and the Bowdoin International Music Festival (2009), Aristea holds a Doctorate (DMA) and Master's (MM) in Composition and Piano from The Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester 2017, 2012). In 2010, she graduated with Honors Class I from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (University of Sydney) and she also holds an A.Mus A. in piano performance.

Brazilian guitarist Josinaldo Costa is a recipient of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music, with previous studies at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Brazil) and at the University of Akron, where he studied with Nicholas Goluses, Mauro Maibrada and Stephen Aron. During his undergraduate studies, he performed as a soloist with the Recife Symphony Orchestra, the Pernambuco Youth Orchestra, and was further award of a FIPSE/CAPES scholarship to study at East Carolina University with Dr. Elliot Frank. Further studies were undertaken in France (Judicael Perroy), Italy (Oscar Ghiglia) and Germany.
Josinaldo frequently appears as a guest chamber and solo performer in countries such as Brazil, Greece, Croatia, Bosnia, USA. His research in performance practice of the 18th and 19th centuries has a focus in the adaptation of the music of J.S. Bach to the classical guitar, and he also performs on the baroque guitar and romantic (19th cent.)

The Sydney Bach Society is a musical organisation that seeks to provide performance opportunities for Australian musicians. Drawing from the Collegium Musicum of Johann Sebastian Bach’s seventeenth century Leipzig, it unites professional musicians, academics, and music enthusiasts, inviting them to engage in a series of vibrant concert experiences.
The Sydney Bach Society series is divided into three recital formats:
Bach Concerts in conjunction with Christ Church St Laurence: A set of three lunchtime recital concerts featuring performers in solo recital and/or in small chamber ensembles. These concerts will focus exclusively on the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries.
New Collegium: Biannual recitals that will follow the tradition of Bach’s own Collegium by fostering the composition and performance of new works. An open submission process via our website (www.sydneybachsociety.com.au) will be used to source these works and the performers necessary for the recitals.
Salon Recitals: Intimate recitals and receptions in private residences and small performance spaces, providing ideal circumstances for the performance of chamber works.
